Eridan, river god in which the Sun dies. Long associated with the Rhone, he would be, in Roman mythology, a river god flowing in the West of the world. Another hypothesis would make Eridan an allegory of the setting Sun.
This wine comes from vines planted in an area classified as a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO, between two must-see sites in the Rhone Valley, Mont Ventoux and the Dentelles de Montmirail. The clay and limestone soils provide ideal conditions for the production of light and fruity wines.
Eridan is composed of 50% Grenache, 40% Syrah, and 10% Mourvèdre. Grenache is the king grape of the Rhone Valley, very well adapted to these clay-limestone soils. It gives the wine all its character. Syrah is another grape variety very widespread in this valley. It brings its aromas of violet, liquorice and spices. Mourvèdre is a very expressive and exceptional grape variety when harvested at optimal maturity.
The vines from which this cuvée is made are harvested by hand in the respect of nature, preserving the integrity of the berries. Each grape variety is then vinified separately, for a period of twelve months in French oak barrels, so that each can fully express its characteristics.
Eridan, the river god associated with the Rhone, long wild but finally tamed, benefits from fine but present woody aromas. Spices, cocoa and candied cherries blend together to express all the complexity of this terroir. This wine has a deep red color with orange reflections. It will be the perfect accompaniment to a fine rib of beef.
